This original collage was created during the initial three months of Stay Home, Stay Safe in the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic. We were all experiencing this weird time to be alive. Between watching the global pandemic unfold and watching trump (I refuse to capitalize his name) fumble around with “Advice,” every day was a new pile of shit to maneuver. And on April 23, the president made a comment about possibly ingesting disinfectant as a cure to look into. Well, that idiocy is what sparked this artwork in Cory’s twisted mind. At least we all had Tiger King, Drag Race, and endless online shopping to distract us. Bottoms up!

Cory Potter is a Michigan-based artist who hoards paper for collage, paint for abstracts, and glitter for both. He is interested in the weird, the bright, the queer, the garish, the strange, and the unconventional and will use anything as an art supply. Like a squirrel, he is attracted to shiny things and free nuts. He’s been included in numerous Flint Institute of Arts Student Exhibitions, Arte Della Morte at Mainsail Collective (Flint, MI 2019), Kaleidoscope of Expression at Pontiac Creative Arts Center (Pontiac, MI 2019), and the Blick Art Materials Local Artist Winter Showcase (Detroit, MI 2019).
